Joan Rosenthal reports that at the end of round 9, four Australians were in the top 10.

Edward Martin (Eng) complains that six of his ten opponents so far have been British (five English and one Welsh). I tried to say that since his opponent this round was Andrew Davis (Eng) who is still delayed, he might not have to play him, but he was already off telling someone else about his situation. In any case, Andrew has arrived, and lost less than 5 minutes of his clock time.

This round, Adam Logan (CAN) plays fourth-ranked Australian Andrew Fisher (AUS), and second-ranked Ganesh Asirvatham (MYS) plays third-ranked Gerald Carter (THA). With seven tiles left in the bag, Adam trails 362-435 but has the case blank. At the end of the game, Adam was down to his last second: 0:01, where under British rules, 0:00 costs him ten points. Ganesh beat Gerry 468-404 after challenging Gerry's desperate 52-point play of a1 COOP hooking the phony P-RUNELIKE.
