Ganesh Asirvatham (MYS) is still hanging onto his seat at Board 1 with a one game lead at 12-3, facing 8th-ranked Peter Armstrong (USA). Adam Logan (CAN) is likewise still at Board 2, leading a group of seven players at 11-4, playing 10th-ranked Joey Mallick (USA). Joel Sherman (USA) remains at Board 3, playing fifth-ranked Naween Fernando (AUS). Paul Cleary (AUS) moves up to Board 4, playing sixth-ranked Akshay Bhandarkar (IND). Seventh-ranked Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) and ninth-ranked Andrew Fisher (AUS) play at Board 5.

Five of those pairings resulted in upsets: Peter over Ganesh, Naween by a single point over Joel, Akshay over Paul.

Rogelio Talosig (NZL) had a good game against Mark Nyman (Eng), bingoing three times with PEN(C)ILS, TURDOID and RESITING, ending up with 425 points. He would have won, too, except that Mark scored 680 points, bingoing HEATH(E)N, NEMATODE, PREADULT and the triple-triple TETANIZE.

Nick Ball (Eng) started the tournament yesterday with a 2-6 record and as of the start of this round was the only undefeated player for the day, rising an impressive 70 ranks from 90th place to 20th place.
